A leading UK defence organisation and trusted partner to the Ministry of Defence is seeking a Principal RF Engineer to join its high-performing Hardware-in-the-Loop team. This role offers hands‑on access to world‑class equipment within an 80% onsite, collaborative environment. Working alongside industry experts, you'll contribute to advanced real-time simulations that enable full-system missile testing in a controlled setting—delivering some of the most sophisticated engineering challenges in the sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As an HWIL RF Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and sustainment of both new and existing RF systems.
  • Working within a multi‑disciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with RF, electronics, and software engineering teams to deliver innovative capabilities that enable advanced HWIL simulation and testing.
  • You will demonstrate strong adaptability across complex engineering challenges, with the ability to interpret and abstract detailed technical information to gain a clear understanding of simulation environments and missile system behaviour.

What do you need?

  • Demonstrates broad engineering expertise, with specialist capability across key technical disciplines, including:
    • Radio Frequency (RF) design, development, and testing
    • System‑level performance analysis and optimisation
    • Interface troubleshooting, debugging, and end‑to‑end system integration
    • Definition and management of hardware and software design requirements
    • Design and delivery of real‑time system architectures
    • Working knowledge of Linux‑based operating systems
    • Strong foundation in computer science principles, with C++ experience advantageous
    • Integration of microcontrollers within RF hardware environments (e.g. Raspberry Pi)
