We have a great opportunity for an experienced embedded software engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of current and future seeker systems!

Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4 to 5 days per week on-site, due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: Seeker software is a complex real-time sub-component of a Missile, responsible for consuming data from a variety of advanced sensors and interfacing to other sub-equipment on-board a missile. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (hardware/software/firmware) with state-of-the-art technology you will be at the forefront of missile system design. The role involves the full life cycle development, in Agile/SCRUM working environment where quality and accuracy of work is essential! There are also opportunities to work in a lab environment, using Missile components and Test Equipment. This is a technical hands-on role and will involve all aspects of the software life cycle:

  • Requirements capture
  • Embedded Software Architecture and Design
  • Implementation
  • Verification (Reviews and Testing)

As part of our larger multi-disciplinary team, you will need to demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities at both system and software component levels. Your positive demeanour, adaptability, clear communication skills, and commitment to maintaining quality will contribute to your success in this role.

What we're looking for from you: Do you have industry experience in the following areas (these are key to being successful in the role):

  • Proven Hard Real-Time embedded software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in ‘C’ or C++ Programming
  • Familiarity with communication Protocols (e.g. SPI, UART, Ethernet, PCI-Express)
  • Experience working with Software Design methodologies (e.g. UML)
  • Ability to analyse system performance and integration
  • Full life cycle development experience
