The Surface Launched Air Defence and the Future Systems Groups of the Simulation and Modelling department are looking for talented engineers/physicists/mathematicians with a keen interest in modelling dynamic complex systems!

Salary: up to £46,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

Our modelling team typically integrates systems and subsystem models to support various stakeholders such as performance engineers, weapon systems simulators in synthetic environments, in-service support teams, customer training and engineering teams looking at new/improvement product concepts. Being part of this team would provide you the unique opportunity to experience engineering at a product level, for multiple projects, giving you a broad view of the various technologies used in our products and how they are used in various defence platforms. This role will also give you in-depth exposure to the Modelling tools and process, and the opportunity to develop relevant skills and apply them in developing large-scale models to support MBDA's portfolio of complex guided weapons products.

Our department is part of an international subject area in MBDA. We have team members in two MBDA UK sites (Bristol and Stevenage) and have strong links to our MBDA sites in Italy, Germany and France!

What we're looking for from you:

  • Understanding of simulation environments (e.g. Simulink or similar) and/or programming experience in one or more languages
  • Understanding of change and configuration control processes (e.g. Jira, IBM Engineering Workflow Management)
  • Ability to identify and solve sophisticated problems and gather the information needed to drive through to ultimate solutions
  • Ability to visualise and analyse complex systems
  • Practical knowledge of basic systems engineering principles and processes
