Overview

Group Category Manager – Information Management at MBDA, Stevenage. Salary: £60,000–£75,000 dependent on experience. Dynamic (hybrid) working with 2–3 days per week on-site. This is a senior position within the Digital Procurement team in the UK.

Security clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates will undergo BPSS checks after offer stage.

The Opportunity

We are expanding our Digital Procurement team and seeking two Group Category Managers to join our group. If you have skills in Digital Procurement or are looking to move into this area, we would be pleased to discuss your fit within the team.

The candidate profile we are looking for includes either:

  • Established Technology Procurement Practitioners with experience at Category Management level in one or more of these categories: Software (Business Software, Software Services, Integration, Projects or Engineering & Manufacturing Software), Networks & Telecoms, Cyber, AI and/or High-Performance Computing, Hardware, Back Office / Front Offices and IT Services, Data Centres & Storage
  • Senior Procurement Practitioner at Group Category Management level or with international experience, willing to develop procurement in one of the technology categories

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing in-depth market knowledge, building and developing category plans, assessing risks and market opportunities
  • Creating short-, mid- and long-term procurement plans
  • Mentoring Buyers to deliver complex procurement projects
  • Operating at Group level as a strategic business partner, collaborating to achieve common goals
  • Working effectively in an international and diverse cultural environment

Information Management Procurement Landscape

This is an exciting time to be at MBDA. You will be an integral partner within our Digital community, liaising with Information Management and other internal stakeholders, and developing strategic approaches and relationships with the external market to meet future technology needs.

The Digital Procurement Team: an international team of approximately 35 procurement professionals based in Stevenage, Bolton, Paris and Rome. We utilise best‑in‑class procurement methodologies and tools and value talent development and growth opportunities.

We welcome MCIPS-qualified procurement professionals or those working towards MCIPS. MBDA offers routes towards MCIPS qualification.

What we’re looking for from you

  • Established Technology Procurement Practitioners with Category Management experience in one of the listed technology areas (Software, Networks & Telecoms, Cyber, AI/HP Computing, Hardware, Back Office/IT Services, Data Centres & Storage)
  • Or a Senior Procurement Practitioner at Group Category Management level with international experience
  • Ideally MCIPS qualified or willing to pursue MCIPS
