Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: WSE has several vacancies for Equipment Requirement Authorities (ERA) who work with the wider organisation and industrial partners to secure delivery of the configured hardware and validation evidence whilst ensuring time, cost and quality constraints within an assigned project are met. Reporting directly to a Design Lead or Chief Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the development of your equipment requirements, ensuring suitable flow down into the supply chain (internal or external), specifying and collecting technical evidence through testing or analysis and ensuring safe and secure integrity is maintained throughout the development cycle and into the hands of our Customers.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a broad understanding of engineering design process and applications as well as an appreciation for good requirement specification practices. Knowledge of high integrity hardware, networking technologies, custom electronics or complex mechanical design is advantageous but not essential. What is key is that you can communicate throughout an engineering team, identify required skills that would support your individual success and are driven by meeting deadlines critical to the success of the business.

  • Manage the technical status and progression of assigned work packages
  • Specify clear and accurate requirements onto the design team (internal or external)
  • Work closely with national and international Design Authorities to define the solution, including technical trades
  • Understand the adherence needs for relevant commercial, military and safety standards
  • Deliver verification and validation strategies for the electrical, mechanical, software and transversal properties of a system or subsystem
  • Prepare certification of the Weapon System and Subsystem for trials or delivery
  • Facilitate the exchange of technical information from the internal or external supply base, alongside the procurement organisation
