Salary: Up to £52,500 depending on experience
Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Typically, 3 days per week on site. Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working.
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: Are you looking to design high-integrity, complex systems? MBDA deliver cutting-edge products to nations and customers across the world and our Power Electronics team is critical to the development of these products. As a Technical Lead, you'll play an integral part in delivering the design definition of electronic sub-systems in one of two areas:
- Power Electronics: Electronics to power and control motors that manoeuvre fins and ultimately provide controlled movement to our products.
- Firing Units: Examples of which include Safety and Arming functionality, Control panels, Command and Control sub systems across the Land, Sea and Air domains.
You will use your experience to lead a team of engineers deployed to the project and work with other departments as required (e.g. mechanical design, manufacturing etc.). Your role will cover leading activities from early feasibility and technology assessments through to detailed design, qualification, certification and supporting transition to production. You will operate in all stages of the product lifecycle, ensuring products meet quality, cost and schedule targets by working closely with wide ranging stakeholders as part of multi-disciplinary teams.
What we're looking for from you:
- Ideally, degree qualified with significant post qualification experience in Electronic Design, Qualification and Certification
- Experience and interest in electronic sub-system development
- Effective Leadership of a small to medium sized team to undertake design activities in accordance with assigned budgets, lead, develop and motivate staff to ensure they are aware and capable of delivering their accountabilities
- Knowledge and understanding of developing a product from technical requirements
- Good understanding of the product lifecycle and product configuration
- Ability to effectively manage multiple stakeholders in order to deliver technical product definition
- Ability to navigate product(s) through qualification and the certification phase
- Experience in planning, control and delivery of assigned projects or work packages ensuring requirements are delivered to plan
