Working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working, but this will depend on project requirements and the need for access to specific site facilities.
The opportunity: Working within one of our Systems Design functions, you will be involved in designing the latest Complex Weapons capabilities for the UK and partner nation Armed Forces in response to advanced threats in Air, Land, Maritime and Cyber domains. You will undertake four six-month placements over the two years, working on a variety of projects according to your interests and skill set. These placements will enable you to apply the Systems Engineering 'V' model across the whole product lifecycle – including:
- Researching future technologies and novel domains;
- Developing requirements and functional architectures;
- Creating concept solutions through Agile methodologies;
- Analysing performance and conducting trade space studies;
- Conducting verification and validation through trials and lab tests.
Across the Systems Engineering domain, we offer exposure to a wide variety of different technologies, engineering methodologies, and customer needs associated with specific products or capabilities. You may choose to undertake one six-month placement in another part of the company, for example a technical function such as Aerodynamics or Simulation & Modelling, a non-engineering area such as Sales and Business, or potentially in one of MBDA's international offices. Alternatively, the placement could be external to MBDA with another defence supplier or with the MOD (Ministry of Defence).
This role is suited to those that enjoy the creativity and practicality of working with problems to arrive at logical solutions.

We offer varied roles with scope to choose placements based on interests and skills. We offer training and experience to learn systems engineering methods and tools, such as Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), in addition to training given as part of the Early Careers Programme. Systems Engineers work with people across all engineering fields and business teams, meeting suppliers and customers and engaging with international MBDA colleagues. There is also Opportunity to travel both within the UK and potentially internationally. We offer a wide support network of experienced engineers with support to work towards Chartership if desired (100% of fees paid during Early Careers Program).
What we're looking for from you: Degree qualified in an Engineering, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Maths, Technology, Computing or General Science discipline (minimum 2:2).
