We have an opportunity for an experienced aerospace Fuel Systems engineer to join our dynamic team on fast paced and exciting projects. Our team delivers fuel system design solutions, requirements and proving across a range of defence projects!
Salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: typically, 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: This role will focus on fluid mechanical equipment within the fuel system, and the co-ordination of various verification activities (test, modelling, analysis) for new development programmes. The tasks can include feasibility studies, system specification and design, trade-off studies, liaison with suppliers, and co-ordination with suppliers and partner organisations to progress verification activities. The role will include travel to France to witness testing and take part in progress meetings. The role could include some 1-D fluid Modelling, and validation of existing models using SimCenter Amesim. Our team engages with the missile architects and propulsion engineers to develop the best fuel system for the application. This is a chance to be actively involved in the development and test of a new fuel system, and work within a small team to develop MBDA fuels systems capability. You will be joining a small, but enthusiastic team, working on a range of world class projects.
What we're looking for from you:
- An appropriate Degree or Masters e.g. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics.
- Knowledge of fluid-mechanical design for fluid system components
- A working knowledge of at least one fluid system modelling tool, such as Amesim or Flomaster or SimScape.
- An ability to develop concept design solutions with limited information and changing requirements
Ideal candidates will have:
- Knowledge of air vehicle fuel system design
- Knowledge of Jet Fuels
- Have the ability to visualise and analyse complex systems
- Have a good understanding of, and good working experience in, all phases of the engineering life cycle
