About the role
As Tool Design Team Lead, you will manage a high‑performing group of up to six mechanical engineers, delivering and overseeing complex tooling design solutions across a wide range of projects. The position is a key leadership role that blends technical expertise with project management to ensure high‑quality solutions are delivered on time and within budget.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of high‑performing mechanical engineers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
- Manage project timelines, priorities and resource allocation, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Identify and remove blockers and foster team collaboration.
- Provide regular feedback, career development support and team engagement activities.
Qualifications
- Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified with significant experience in Mechanical Design and Development.
- Strong 3D modelling experience with the ability to assess model quality; experience in 3D annotations is an advantage.
- Proficiency in producing engineering drawings with high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of BS8888, ISO 1101, ISO 5459, GD & T specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- People management experience is beneficial.
