Senior/Principal Training Instructor in Bolton

Location: Bolton, United Kingdom.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

Overview

MBDA is a world leader in missile and weapon systems. A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual with specialist skills as an Engineering Training Instructor to work on MBDA's Complex Weapons domain missiles and missile systems products at an overseas location, principally in Poland.

What we're looking for from you:

• An instructor to actively assist in the training delivery of an MBDA Complex System Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) product to an export customer at the highest quality, on time and on cost.
• Will be initially deployed overseas as part of an MBDA Training Team delivering in‑country operator and maintainer training to the customer.
• Sensitivity and appropriate responsiveness to the customer’s local culture, behaviour and requirements.
• A working knowledge of the GBAD domain would be an advantage, as would the ability to assist in the delivery of field support engineering to the customer.
• Training will be provided before deployment.
• Substantial experience in engineering or an engineering related subject is required.
• Degree level education in engineering or related subject desirable but not essential.
• A Defence Instructor Qualification or civilian equivalent desirable, coupled with experience of working within a training team environment.
• Experience in Training Needs Analysis (TNA), with the ability to interpret TNA studies, produce reports, and assist in the production of course training plans, lesson plans and training material.
• Knowledge of engineering training and processes within a military structure is a bonus; may need to respond to technical queries from the military customer or support design, trials or projects when necessary.
• Ability to liaise with product suppliers to support training technologies or equipment development while maintaining technical reports and records of all training and field support activities to a high standard.
• May be involved in field support activities and a contractor’s working party, at a remote location within the deployed country, UK or overseas.
• Ability to work with a variety of people and maintain a willing, helpful attitude and calm professionalism, even when last‑minute changes occur.
• Strong interpersonal skills for customer and industrial partner interaction, resilience, and good communication.

Role

Deployed overseas for a minimum of 3 years as part of an MBDA Customer Support Training Team on a challenging export programme delivering operator and maintainer training and Train‑The‑Trainer courses on MBDA’s GBAD weapons product. Lead both theoretical and practical product training as well as technical field support at the customer’s location while assisting the training team in producing project timeline plans, course training plans, training material and development reports, on time and on cost. May be required to assist in product training delivery on other systems as the programme evolves.

The training department comprises a diverse mix of skilled engineering and operator instructors located within the UK and overseas.
