We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Test Development Engineer to play a leading role in the development and support of production circuit card test capabilities at our state-of-the-art manufacturing site. It’s an exciting time as we begin work on integrating a brand new, in-house developed, multi-functional test core into our production facility and require a candidate with the correct skills to specialise in this!

Salary: Up to £40,500 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 4-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity:

You will act as the interface between our design and manufacturing teams to provide knowledge, support and continuous improvement, alongside other likeminded engineers! In this role, the candidate will gain an in-depth knowledge of the test systems from a hardware and software perspective and drive iterative development through the relevant stakeholder channels.

Whilst the primary aim is focused on our highly advanced circuit card test capabilities, there is also scope to work on other unique opportunities including sub systems from MBDA’s ever growing portfolio! The role offers the candidate a true engineering challenge in their core discipline(s), whilst providing scope for personal growth and development in other areas of electronics.

Working within design support is a highly rewarding role as you not only see designs coming to life in the manufacturing environment but you can help to shape and deliver these products to support our customers.

What we’re looking for from you:

To be suitable for this role, Individuals will have the following technical attributes:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent industry experience)
  • Significant experience designing/ supporting Automated Test Equipment
  • Sound understanding of fundamental analogue and digital circuit design
  • Experience of creating and using technical documentation and Drawings i.e. Schematics, PCB layouts, Engineering Drawings
  • Experience of using NI LabVIEW and/or Test Stand preferable
  • Experience in Boundary Scan / XJTAG preferable
  • Investigative skills to be able to find Root Causes of design related issues and propose robust Corrective Actions.

In addition to the above, the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the capability to write clear and concise engineering documentation.
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with an awareness of the challenges and opportunities that this may bring and a passion for innovation and collaboration.
  • You’ll be prepared to work autonomously if needed, lead the delivery of your work assignments, and actively engage with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of your outputs.
  • Manage discreet work packages preparing bids, controlling costs and delivering solutions.
  • Experience in supporting manufacturing and resolving manufacturing issues is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Finally, we are looking for someone who has a record of accomplishment of on-time delivery along with good verbal and written communication skills.
