Salary: Circa £58,000 depending on experience
Location: Stevenage or Bolton sites (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:
Our PCB Layout team is responsible for providing a full PCB Layout Service to all Internal Programmes. These span all technologies from PTH boards to complex HDI multilayer, rigid/flexi-rigid, surface mount, impedance matched, RF etc. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to develop your technical and leadership skills across our broad range of products.
As Team Lead, you’ll be working closely with Layout engineers, Program Managers, Manufacturing Engineering and Procurement Teams, developing complex PCB layouts, ensuring the layouts meet the technical requirements (electrical, mechanical, thermal and environmental) and are delivered to agreed schedules.
You will lead the team’s engagement with key stakeholders, ensuring clear and strong communication, scheduling work and supporting the team to navigate complex issues. This can entail supporting the management of workload forecasts, reviewing change proposals, working with Technologists and exchanging information used for developing and adapting emerging technologies to meet our high reliability requirements, whilst maintaining a high production yield, delivered on time, on cost, on quality.
You’ll also mentor and participate in knowledge sharing with other team members playing an active role in their own and your development. Should you wish to be based out of our Bolton site, regular travel to our Stevenage site will be required to meet with our design team, project designers and fulfil your training needs. This is an essential requirement.
What we're looking for from you:
- Extensive/specialist experience in one or more areas such as RF/High speed/Analogue/Power/SI or EMC
- Good negotiation and influencing skills to ensure design requirements are suitable for production processes
- Ability to lead and support design reviews as well as new technology introductions both national and international
- Substantial knowledge and experience of PCB design and best practices for PCB layout for high reliability products
- Substantial knowledge of PCB fabrication processes and technologies (materials, stack-ups etc.)
- Strong communication and skills to facilitate regular face-to-face and electronic communications with all relevant stakeholders including our international partners.
- Substantial knowledge and experience of scheduling and managing workload in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment
