Role Summary
The Missile Test and Testability Expert will report to the Test & Testability Department Head and, from a project perspective, to the Project Chief Design Engineer.
The role involves all phases of the missile test process, from early feasibility studies to series production and in‑service support.
The expert will define test strategy and BIT architecture, improve specifications, analyze production test data, model system coverage, and generate diagnostic instructions.
Day‑to‑day tasks include participating in Red‑Team reviews, supporting new product bids, documenting best practices, mentoring department members, and contributing to roadmap development.
Responsibilities
- Define project test strategy and BIT architecture, including coverage requirements.
- Improve specifications and test equipment technical requirements across projects.
- Analyze production test data to spot trends and diagnose failures.
- Model systems to understand test coverage and generate diagnostic instructions.
- Participate in Red‑Team reviews and activities addressing critical issues during development and manufacture.
- Support new product bid activities.
- Identify, document and deploy best practices across the department and within projects.
- Mentor and support members of the Test & Testability department.
- Lead or participate in roadmap development activities.
Qualifications
- Degree level education (or equivalent) with significant experience of electronic test at all project lifecycle stages.
- Electronic circuit design, testing and failure analysis techniques.
- Test equipment design.
- Experience in requirements capture.
- Project management and planning skills.
- Technical leadership for test‑related issues across design projects.
- Experience in Df T and testability.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders on technical direction.
- Support departmental strategy and recruitment activities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal).
- Willingness to travel within the UK and EU when required.
