A great opportunity for an Electronic Design Engineer to deploy their skills in the interesting and engaging field of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)!

Salary: Up to £55,000, depending on experience/grade

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2 - 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undertake HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

The Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radiation Effects (RE) department is split between a test team working hands‑on in our state‑of‑the‑art EMC Facility to simulate environments and a highly skilled project consultancy team that is embedded across all projects within MBDA to ensure good EMC practice & design. This role is in our EMC Project Team who support MBDA programmes throughout the full engineering lifecycle. It will specifically focus on design for EMC and RE.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in analogue and digital electronics design with an awareness or specialism in EMC and/or RF systems. The EMC design engineer will focus on providing the project teams with advice and guidance on the design of products to ensure that they meet the EMC requirements. They will also be responsible for designing and producing test plans and bespoke electronic test solutions. They will support the development of unique test capability for the facility.

What we're looking for from you:

Essential

  • Higher education or significant experience within subject fields: Electronics, Electrical, Physics, EMC or similar
  • Significant experience in Electronic Design, development, and delivery
  • Experience in leading significant electronic design work packages
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and knowledge of electronic technologies
  • Experience with SPICE simulation tools (LTspice, ORCAD)
  • Ability to work to defined deadlines and within budget limits
  • Excellent Analytical and Problem Solving skills
  • Capable of working autonomously to meet the delivery needs of the company

Desirable

  • Good Understanding of EMC and design principles
  • Knowledge in the application of a military EMC standard to system, sub‑system or equipment level is desirable (e.g. Defence Standard 59-41 / 59-411, AECTP500, Mil‑Std‑461, RTCA DO160 / EUROCAE ED-14)
