Overview: The wider WSE (Weapon System Equipment) team manages groups of equipment and Weapon System sub‑systems from the bidding stage through concept and requirements generation, development, production, delivery and final integration. In the Land Ceptor Physical Design team, this role focuses on launcher architecture, ensuring all phases of the product life cycle are supported on a daily basis. Salary is circa £46,000 depending on experience. Work arrangement is dynamic hybrid: 2‑3 days per week on‑site. A security clearance is required – British citizen or dual UK‑British national. All successful candidates must pass HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
Responsibilities:
- Define and manage Land Ceptor Launcher Build Definitions in PLM, ensuring releases support project timelines.
- Provide change notice and problem report management to support key programme milestones through the supply chain.
- Support non‑conformance management for production and in‑service products.
- Ensure correct configuration of Land Ceptor builds as complexity evolves, working with UK and Italian configuration teams to align with BMS and company processes.
- Own responsibility for specified hardware components, delivering their requirement sets, and providing support.
- Drive future development and develop requirement sets in support of business or customer needs.
- Collaborate with MBDA IT and support delivery of significant contractual deliveries.
- Work with manufacturing (Bolton) to understand build definitions and support production.
- Respond to and resolve in‑service customer queries.
Qualifications:
- Awareness of PLM for design definition and configuration management.
- Demonstrable experience of product delivery in challenging environments.
- Experience in the design and support of large mechanical assemblies with integrated hydraulic and electrical installations.
- Strong task prioritisation and communication skills.
- Experience delivering product support both in person and remotely.
- Experience leading or contributing to product development.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles, processes and practices.
- Appreciation of requirements engineering at system, subsystem or component level.
- Knowledge associated with design and build of hardware.
- Experience with non‑conformance management.
- Awareness of P6 as a planning tool.
- Effective and concise reporting skills for clear communication of complex issues.
