An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Calibration (Metrology) Operator to join our mechanical and maintenance engineering team within the calibration and maintenance department.
Salary: £42,558
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: The role involves the calibration of dimensional hand tools such as:
- Torque wrenches
- Torque Screwdrivers
- Micrometers
- DTI's
- Vernier and Digital callipers
- Crimp Tools
You will also be involved with the inspection and measurement of components using first principles techniques of associated production items. The work is challenging, rewarding and extremely varied.
What we're looking for from you:
Qualifications required (all of the below):
- Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3 Standard)
- Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, diploma, etc.)
- Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ)
Experience:
- Experience in the calibration of dimensional hand tools essential
- Experience in the calibration of Torque wrenches and Screwdrivers to BS6789:2017 essential
- An understanding of mechanical engineering drawings GD&T essential
- A good understanding of uncertainty of measurement essential
- Knowledge of CMM desirable
- Knowledge of Optical Measurement desirable
