Salary: Circa £65,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

As the System of Systems Design Definition Group Lead your primary objective is to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team in support of integration (physical / functional) of an MBDA land product into a wider Ground Based Air Defence Weapon System context. You will be experienced in functional design and integration to demonstrate your understanding of the challenges of integrating complex systems into a larger / wider system context.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading MBDA support to the customer and industry partners in generation of system level requirements and verification plans, conduct of system of systems related design studies and generation of interface definitions
  • Management and delivery on time, on cost, on quality of System of Systems task packages including progress and budgetary reporting
  • Management of the System of Systems team which comprises of engineers based across Europe and the United States
  • Technical engagement with the customer and industry partners including management of technical points of contact and of regular working groups chaired by members of the System of Systems team

This role will involve travel overseas (expected once per month) to support engagement with the customer and industry partners.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in developing and integrating complex systems, preferably in the defence industry
  • Strong systems thinking skills with the ability to initiate and drive trade studies
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to a variety of stakeholders (internally and externally)
  • Experience developing requirement sets, and an ability to agree these collaboratively with different stakeholder groups including System Design Authorities and Government organisations
  • Experience managing people and supporting their development
  • Experience in work package management
