The Simulation and Modelling department seeks experienced engineers, physicists, or mathematicians with proven experience in modelling dynamic complex systems and producing high‑standard code. The successful candidate will join our dynamic engineering teams in Surface Launched Air Defence and Future Systems.
Salary: Up to £57,000, depending on experience.
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on‑site due to workload classification.
Security Clearance: British Citizen (SC clearance required after offer).
Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate, and validate dynamic numerical models, primarily using MATLAB and Simulink.
- Collaborate with weapon effectors, system components, system designers, control engineers, and software developers to provide simulations from concept to life support.
- Integrate external models into our environments and work closely with external partners.
- Implement continuous integration and verification processes and perform detailed model validation against experimental or field‑trial data.
- Participate in model reviews, contribute to documentation, and apply robust configuration management.
- Represent the modelling team in cross‑functional collaboration and present technical solutions for system integration and performance assessment.
Qualifications:
- Proven, hands‑on experience with MATLAB and Simulink, or other programming languages for system modelling and simulation.
- Knowledge of coding standards and peer review of coding changes.
- Strong understanding of dynamic systems and numerical modelling.
- Familiarity with model‑based design methodologies, the software development cycle, and systems engineering processes.
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with version control tools (e.g., Git, EWM).
- Hands‑on experience of automated C/C++ code generation from Simulink.
- Experience working with external partners.
