As a Systems Engineer at MBDA, you can be involved in all aspects of missile systems development, from early concept studies to series production and in‑service support. A role in the Portfolio Delivery Team will offer exposure of the full product lifecycle and will help you develop your career by gaining an excellent understanding of the business, its operations, and its projects.

Salary: Up to £55,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2-3 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

The Delivery Lead is responsible for the management of Portfolio engineering activities associated with the delivery of the MBDA Complex Weapons Portfolio, including management of technical risks, obsolescence and engineering commonality. The role demands a motivated individual with broad technical knowledge, and good influencing skills. It would suit someone who is looking for a balance of technical understanding and broader business delivery aspects. The successful individual will get exposure to wider Portfolio factors such as financial efficiencies, operational performance, exportability and Freedom of Action to the UK MoD.

Responsibilities:

  • A chance to use the knowledge and experience you have gained to help steer and shape the delivery of the MBDA UK portfolio of products.
  • The opportunity to develop and implement new ways of working, building on past successes but with the freedom to innovate.
  • Work with projects to improve the efficiency of Commonality, Modularity & Reuse and reduce hardships.
  • Review predicted and measured benefits to ensure realism from an engineering point of view.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure that programme plans for dependencies exist.
  • Act as the point of contact between Functions, Equipment Teams, Centres of Excellence and the Portfolio as risks or issues arise.
  • Ensure solutions for portfolio obsolescence removal do not affect the dependencies established.

What we're looking for from you:

  • Significant experience in an engineering discipline, with a good understanding of the product lifecycle including the design and development process for electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • The ability to work with, influence, and challenge where required including senior MOD and MBDA management.
  • A flexible mind‑set, able to tackle problems and develop genuinely innovative solutions for design challenges.
  • Ability to understand sophisticated technical problems, often with a high degree of uncertainty, complexity and inconsistency.
  • Effectively manage your priorities when presented with issues from multiple projects.
  • You are able to concisely summarise multi‑faced problems and influence, lead and empower teams positively.
