Engineer working on the mechanical design of Warheads. This role encompasses all facets of the product life cycle, from conceptualisation and detailed designs to qualification, production, and in‑service support across a diverse portfolio of Warhead types and applications. The position is part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary team tackling challenging engineering issues across the product life cycle. Aiming to broaden expertise in modelling, simulation, novel materials and emerging manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage mechanical design work packages, assuming responsibility for Design, Development, and Proving activities throughout the product life cycle.
  • Provide detailed design, qualification and production support for Warheads.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, customers and partner teams to negotiate and influence design decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with qualification and homologation activities.
  • Communicate design progress and issues effectively in both written and verbal formats.

Qualifications

  • A Degree/HND/HNC coupled with post‑qualification experience and training in mechanical design.
  • Proficiency in managing mechanical design work packages.
  • Familiarity with proving and qualification/homologation activities.
  • Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on our CAE tools will be provided).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity and adaptability.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: Circa £55,000 depending on experience.
  • Company bonus: Up to £2,500 (based on company performance).
  • Pension: maximum total contribution up to 14%.
  • Paid overtime opportunity.
  • Flexi leave: up to 15 additional days.
  • Enhanced parental leave: up to 26 weeks for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave with additional paternity and neonatal enhancements.

Working Arrangements

  • Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on‑site due to workload classification. Flexible working arrangements and time‑in‑locus options are available.

Security & Clearance

  • Security Clearance: British Citizen or a dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS).
  • All employees at MBDA are required to hold UK Security or BPSS Clearance.
