Security Officer in Stevenage

The Security Officer is responsible for the effective physical control of entry, operation and monitoring of all security and safety equipment at the site, responding to any related incidents.

Responsibilities:

• Operating security systems including Access Control System, CCTV, Radio Communication Systems, Perimeter Intruder Detection systems and various safety systems.
• Undertaking patrols, securing buildings, operating in a Control Room environment, responding to emergencies and acting as initial incident controller.
• Working with a highly experienced qualified combined in-house and externally supplied Security team.
• Involved in varied security operations and gaining experience in Vetting and Registry duties/roles, expanding knowledge of Security processes and procedures.
• Joining an established and motivated team responsible for all aspects of physical and procedural Security and the opportunity to work towards the development of skills in Security Vetting, Document Registry, Cryptographic Material Control and Electronic Counter Measure roles.

Are you able to undertake shift work, both day and night shifts, and when required travel and work at other MBDA UK sites? Do you have the experience and ability to work as part of a team and in a lone capacity, as on occasions you will be required in a location alone with no contact with colleagues?

Good working knowledge of security/safety processes. Numerate and IT literate (word/email/PowerPoint/excel) to enable security activities to be carried out. Good report writing skills. A willing, helpful attitude and a calm professional manner, when dealing with both internal and external customers. Someone who is able to undertake the role under challenging circumstances e.g. Emergency situations having the ability to be adaptable when things are changed at the last minute.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Shift patterns: willing to work a 12-hour days/nights rotation.
• Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. HM Government BPSS checks will be required after offer.
• Compliance: MBDA Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS) managed by MBDA Personnel Security Team.
