Overview

Embedded Design Team Lead role focusing on technical leadership, people management and delivering complex embedded digital systems in a defence environment. You will lead day-to-day line management of the team, identify opportunities and drive process improvements while promoting a delivery-focused culture. The portfolio ranges from advanced DSP systems (e.g. image processing, software defined radios) and complex SoC systems to safety and security critical systems, using the latest embedded devices from major vendors (e.g. Xilinx, Intel, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Embedded Design team, manage workloads and bids, plan and own technical work packages.
  • Identify opportunities and drive process improvements; promote a delivery-focused culture.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary engineering team in a fast-moving environment.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced defence technology and ensure successful delivery of projects.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable team leadership experience.
  • Background in Digital Hardware Design, FPGA Design (firmware), or Embedded Software Design.
  • Embedded digital design and modelling skills (partitioning of functional elements between software and FPGA; modelling and analysing key performance aspects).
  • Experience of integration and test of embedded systems onto hardware platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to inspire and drive teams to succeed.
  • Project management – planning, budgeting and delivery mindset.

Location, Terms and Security

  • Location: Stevenage.
  • Hybrid working: typically 3-4 days on-site.
  • Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience.
  • Security clearance: British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship. After offer stage, BPSS checks will be conducted by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.
