As a Software Technical Specialist within the Software Product Lines and Capability department, you will work closely with the Software Technical Experts to provide essential support across Software Engineering. You will serve as an enabler between the experts, the wider capability department and functional technical development teams, ensuring delivery of software solutions that meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist technical advice and support, including implementation assistance and troubleshooting.
- Act as a conduit between software experts, assessment teams and development teams.
- Identify, document and contribute to the development of software capability, processes and tools in areas such as real‑time performance, safety, security, user experience, simplicity and reusability.
- Investigate low‑level software technical problems and develop solutions, improvements and recommendations.
- Collaborate with other Technical Specialists and key contacts to deliver capability improvements.
- Influence Software Engineering Technology Strategy, product lines and new technology adoption.
Qualifications
- Strong programming background, preferably with experience in Ada, C and C++.
- Familiarity with model‑based software development environments such as SCADE, Rhapsody and Simulink and auto‑code generation.
- Analytical mind capable of synthesising information, assessing trade‑offs and presenting a clear technical position.
- Ability to provide technical support, articulate solutions and collaborate with software developers.
- Knowledge of software continuous integration tools and processes.
- Understanding of software abstraction layers and the software stack.
- Experience developing safety and security related software solutions.
- Desirable: knowledge of the Data Distribution Service (DDS).
Salary & Working Conditions
- Salary: Circa £65,000 to £80,000 depending on experience.
- Dynamic (hybrid) working – typically 3 to 4 days per week on‑site.
- Security clearance – British citizenship or dual UK nationality with British citizenship is required, and all successful candidates will need to undergo BPSS checks.
