The Mission Planning & Control department seeks a driven and passionate Software Project Lead to provide direction and drive to several project teams. You will engage with collaborators across the business to find opportunities to utilise current product lines, propose and develop new product lines and deliver customer capabilities. You will also present to leadership locally and internationally.
As a Software Project Lead you will provide leadership and be responsible for all parts of the software lifecycle, including bidding, planning, budgeting, progress reporting, stakeholder management, integration, delivery and support. Responsibilities- Technical management of a team of software developers (typically 5‑10 engineers).
- Deliver software on complex systems through all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Build and manage relationships with project stakeholders and balance competing requirements.
- Manage a software budget and control changes to requirements and costs against agreed estimates.
- Problem‑solving and maintaining an open‑mind, realistic approach to change and improvement.
- Present project status to senior leadership and internationally.
- Support teams’ personal development and maintain work/life balance.
- Proven ability to technically manage a team of software developers.
- Experience and knowledge of delivering software on complex systems through all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience building and managing relationships with project stakeholders while balancing competing requirements.
- Proven record of managing a software budget and confidence to control change to requirements and costs against an agreed estimate/budget.
- Loves problem solving and an open‑mind, yet realistic approach to change and improvement.
- Knowledge or interest in Java, C++ or Mission Planning Software is a bonus.
- Paid annual leave: 25 days per calendar year; additional day after 5, 10, and 15 years of service; option to purchase up to 5 extra days via payroll.
