We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who will take ownership of the stability and quality of our products – used to ensure the reliability of our Command-and-Control Systems. This role centres on resolving complex issues, improving system reliability and reducing technical debt by identifying root causes and implementing durable fixes. You’ll develop a deep knowledge of our architecture and play a key role in making the platform reliable, resilient, and easier for the rest of the engineering team to build on. The work you’ll do directly affects customer experience, engineering velocity, and overall product health. You will be joining a branch of the Environmental Simulators team based in our Bristol office, located for its proximity to the customers. Due to the core team being based at another site we are looking for someone who is willing to learn and understand the product and isn’t immediately deterred by a lack of understanding. You will become the person who understands our system better than anyone.
Qualifications
- Previous Software Engineering Experience
- Prior experience with the Ada programming language is key to supporting our products
- Experience of working within an Agile development environment
- Working with CI/CD pipelines including writing of Automated Test Scripts
- A willingness to build deep system architecture understanding
- An enjoyment of performance tuning and root-cause analysis
- Proactive self-starter who can take ownership of tasks
