Due to increased workload, the Mechanical Analysis Group is looking for an experienced stress engineer to lead the structural design and development of a next generation complex weapon platform. You will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams across our UK sites to develop an advanced aerospace structural solution.
Salary: Circa £58,000 depending on experience
Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)
Dynamic (hybrid) working: Minimum 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Clearance (SC) checks, which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity: The Mechanical Analysis Group is responsible for the structural and thermal performance of MBDA's military systems. We deliver structural and thermal analysis expertise across the whole product lifecycle from studies in the early concept stage and detailed development of engineering designs to manufacturing concessions and in-service support. Our breadth of work within the Mechanical Analysis Group can provide opportunities to gain experience across a wide range of structural analysis disciplines, including but not limited to: Classical hand calculations; CAE Modelling (Static, Dynamic, Fatigue, Aeroelastics, Non-Linear, Impact, Kinematic), Qualification & Design Testing, Fault Investigation & Loads Derivation. What we're looking for from you:
- Ideally degree qualified in a relevant engineering / science discipline or have significant experience in a relevant field (e.g. Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Analysis etc.).
- Proven experience in estimating, planning, leading and delivering a variety of structural analysis work packages, using both classical hand calculation methods and CAE tools (Hyperworks desirable).
- Demonstrated ability in preparing and presenting comprehensive technical reports, conveying complex findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Proactive and passionate about developing and improving methods, processes and tools.
- Able to mentor and support junior engineers providing technical expertise and fostering their professional growth.
- Self‑motivated individuals who are great problem solvers, can take responsibility and work independently as well as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network, influence and manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Composite stress analysis experience would be an asset.
- Willingness to obtain and hold DV clearance will be an asset.
