Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Project Manager (Architect/Engineer) to lead small design and construction projects for the USPS Facilities Repair & Alterations organization. This role is ideal for individuals with architectural engineering or related experience, capable of managing technical and administrative tasks across various facility initiatives.

Work Environment

  • Initially, working on-site at a USPS location for several months.
  • Reliable Wi-Fi and a computer are required for teleworking.
  • Travel may be necessary to oversee multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage design and construction projects, including minor construction, repairs, and system alterations (electrical, HVAC).
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and USPS teams to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide technical guidance to contractors and staff.
  • Set project deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor progress.

Technical Functions

  • Evaluate project challenges and propose solutions.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare engineering proposals with justifications and alternatives.
  • Analyze data to optimize mail processing facilities.
  • Draft RFPs, review bids, and ensure compliance.
  • Attend project meetings and conduct on-site inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical), or Construction Management. ABET accreditation required for engineering programs.
  • Experience: Several years in facility maintenance or project management, with preference for facility alterations or minor construction experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel and adjust working hours.
  • Pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • Eligible for Public Trust clearance.
