The role of a financial planner is to ensure your clients’ financial affairs are structured in the most optimal way possible. To do this, we build a financial strategy to meet a client’s long-term objectives, starting with understanding what clients really want to achieve and then formulating a plan to help them get there. This may involve income structuring, capital accumulation strategies, retirement plans, investment solutions, and optimising tax efficiencies.
As a graduate trainee, here’s what will await you during your four-year training contract:
- During your first two years you will study and complete your core financial planning qualifications (Certificate in Insurance (CII) Diploma in Financial Planning) whilst working in a regional office supporting the delivery of client service.
- Learn the financial planning process and how this is applied in the profession to client-specific circumstances.
- Obtain relevant information from providers to assist in understanding a client’s affairs.
- Learn about possible solutions that can assist our clients.
- Learn how to use client management software and systems to prepare and keep records of our client advice.
- Learn about consumer duty responsibilities, compliance, and regulatory aspects of the profession.
- Research and write reports with your own solutions and ideas to meet client circumstances.
- Provide ongoing assistance to the financial planner or regional teams with delivery of all parts of client service and support.
In your final two years, you will study and complete your advanced financial planning qualifications to become a chartered financial planner while striving to build your skillset. You will be expected to take responsibility for creating and presenting client solutions while ensuring compliance and best client service.
We are looking for candidates who are on track or have obtained an undergraduate degree, with strong academic performance. A deep curiosity to learn, critical thinking skills, a commitment to self-development, and a strong sense of ownership are essential. You should enjoy meeting new people, work well under pressure, and possess excellent time management skills.
