Role Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site CNC Grinder Programmer/Operator role based in Worcester. The role involves programming, setting, and operating Studer CNC grinding machines with Fanuc controls to produce precision components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances. You will select and set up tooling and fixtures, load programs, perform test runs, and adjust offsets to optimize quality and efficiency. Daily responsibilities include inspecting parts using appropriate measuring equipment, completing in‑process quality checks, and documenting results. You will also be expected to perform basic machine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with engineering and production teams on process improvements, and follow all safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong CNC grinding skills, including programming, setting, and operating CNC grinders for precision components.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, verniers, gauges) and in‑process quality inspection.
  • Ability to select tooling, set up fixtures, optimize cutting conditions, and adjust offsets for quality and throughput.
  • Good problem‑solving skills to diagnose machining issues, dimensional errors, and surface finish problems.
  • Understanding of shop safety practices, quality standards, and lean or continuous improvement principles.
  • Previous experience in a CNC machining or grinding environment; experience in high‑precision or high‑mix production is an advantage.
  • Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in machining, manufacturing, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Ability to work accurately with minimal supervision, manage time effectively, and collaborate within a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts or overtime when required to support production schedules.
