Responsibilities:
- Installation, service and repair of Mazak CNC machines (including lasers).
- Diagnose faults, check machine alignments and change electrical drives, motors and encoders.
- Field based role for the Midlands area of England; 80% supporting dealers with technical assistance via email or phone.
- Attend customers' premises across the UK and Europe for installation, fault‑finding and repair when remote assistance is insufficient.
- Hands‑on and technically competent while completing reports using Microsoft Office.
Qualifications:
- HNC/Level 4 Apprenticeship recommendation based on college feedback and grades; Foundation Degree or Management qualifications.
- Team Leader or Supervisor experience.
- Senior Laser Engineer experience.
Training & Development:
- Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN). Duration approximately 40‑45 months.
- Year 1: 2239 weeks at HWGTA Training Centre developing practical engineering skills, with one day per week in the classroom, completing the theoretical elements of the EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
- Year 2: predominantly based in the company, returning to the Training Centre one day per week to continue and complete the specialised elements of their Level 3 Diploma (Development Knowledge).
- Years 3‑4: based full‑time in the company, developing practical skills and knowledge in preparation for the End‑Point Assessment to gain the Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Level 3.
- Normal working hours will be from 08:15 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, but can be adjusted starting as early as 07:45.
