Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd is based at the European manufacturing plant in Worcester, which also houses the European Technology Centre (ETC). The plant provides customers direct access to the UK’s largest and most expert engineering team, with extensive experience in machine‑tool applications across almost every industry sector. At the plant we do more than assemble machine tools: we machine our own castings, produce our own spindles, turrets, tool magazines and sheet‑metal covers. We are committed to manufacturing in Europe and have continuously invested in new machinery and equipment since opening in 1987.

Potential to become a Team Leader in Electrical Sub‑Assembly. Opportunity to further education by completing a Level 3 apprenticeship or an ILM Level 3. Learn to read and use technical drawings, solder, crimp wires and test electrical assemblies. Work on individual assemblies used in the final production of our machine tools.

Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN). Duration: approximately 18 months. Training is delivered as block release: four days per week at HWGTA and one day in the company. The programme consists of three six‑week blocks in the training centre, plus a four‑week classroom block covering practical and theory aspects, working to complete the following qualifications:

  • EAL Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills)
  • EAL Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations (Knowledge)

Normal working hours will be from 08:15 to 16:30, Monday to Friday, but can be adjusted to start as early as 07:45. Once qualified, you will move on to shift work: 5:30 am – 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm.
