Description
District Assessment Coordinator/Instructional Coach
Position Summary:
The District Assessment Coordinator (DAC) oversees the administration of all state and local assessments within the Mayville School District. This role ensures compliance with Wisconsin DPI guidelines, maintains test security, and facilitates the effective use of assessment data to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.
The Instructional Coach, through the use of student-centered coaching, supports the professional growth of teachers by providing ongoing coaching to implement high leverage instructional practices, align curriculum, and ultimately enhance student learning and achievement.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment Administration & Compliance
- Coordinate the administration of state-mandated assessments, including the WI Forward Exam, ACT, PreACT Secure, ACCESS for ELLs, and Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM)
- Manage local assessment systems and tools and support their use for instructional planning (e.g., iReady, EduClimber, AIMSweb+).
- Works closely with principals to manage the scheduling and logistics of assessment windows across the district.
- Coordinate testing accommodations for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Language Learners.
Training & Support
- Provide training for school-level assessment staff on test administration protocols and procedures for state and local level assessments.
- Disseminate updates and communications from DPI to relevant district personnel and serve as the primary contact for assessment-related inquiries.
- Guide the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state standards.
- Support teachers in implementing research-based instructional strategies across all content areas.
Data Management & Reporting
- Oversee the collection, reporting, and analysis of assessment data and ensure timely reporting of assessment outcomes to stakeholders, including parents and the school board.
- Collaborate with educators in interpreting and using assessment results to guide instruction.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field.
- Valid Wisconsin educator or administrator license.
- Experience in assessment coordination, data analysis, or educational leadership at the school or district level.
- Minimum 3–5 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
- Leadership/coaching experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of assessment tools and data analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in student information systems and data management platforms.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
