This is an excellent opportunity to join a construction business that is committed to developing its people, offering hands-on experience, ongoing support and a clear pathway for career progression.
We’re looking for a motivated and proactive Health & Safety Advisor to help promote safe working practices across construction sites and office operations. You’ll have the opportunity to get out on site, work directly with site teams, build your technical knowledge and develop the confidence to take ownership of health and safety inspections and processes.
You won’t be expected to know everything from day one. You’ll receive guidance and mentoring from the experienced Health & Safety Manager, with a structured development plan to help you build your skills, qualifications and experience.
- Genuine career progression: A clear development pathway towards a full Health & Safety Advisor position.
- Learn from an experienced professional: Direct support, mentoring and guidance from the Health & Safety Manager.
- Varied, hands-on experience: Get involved in site inspections, safety audits, documentation, training and incident investigations.
- Develop your independence: Build relationships with site teams and gain practical experience across a range of construction environments.
- Invest in your future: Opportunities to develop your technical knowledge and work towards further recognised qualifications.
- Attractive benefits package: Including a company car, private medical insurance and company pension.
This role would suit someone at the beginning of their Health & Safety career who wants to learn and progress, as well as someone already working in construction, site supervision or a related role who is looking to move into a dedicated Health & Safety position.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Construction Site Inspections
- Carry out routine health and safety inspections at allocated construction sites.
- Monitor site safety standards, including housekeeping, access, welfare facilities, PPE, working at height, excavations, plant movements and fire precautions.
- Check that risk assessments and method statements are available, understood and followed.
- Work with Site Managers to identify improvements, agree corrective actions and monitor progress.
- Produce clear inspection reports, including photographs and action deadlines, and follow up outstanding items.
Health & Safety Documentation
- Assist with preparing, reviewing and updating risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans, site rules and induction materials.
- Review subcontractor health and safety documentation and refer technical queries where necessary.
- Maintain inspection records, action trackers, training registers and other safety documentation.
- Support internal audits and the ongoing development of health and safety management systems.
Training, Communication and Engagement
- Assist with delivering site inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Help identify training requirements and monitor qualification expiry dates.
- Promote a positive safety culture, encouraging the reporting of hazards, near misses and suggestions for improvement.
- Build effective working relationships with site teams and management.
Incident Reporting and Investigation
- Assist with recording accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Gather relevant information, photographs, witness accounts and documentation.
- Help identify lessons learned and support the implementation of preventative measures.

- An introductory Health & Safety qualification, current study towards a recognised qualification, or relevant practical experience.
