About the role
The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
The main responsibilities of the role:
- Administrative tasks such as minute-taking, inbox management and arrangements for Board meetings
- Engaging with colleagues across MOPAC, the GLA and the MPS
- Producing high-quality communications such as weekly email or summary papers
- Taking (co)-responsibility for managing specific workstreams such as oversight papers
As the Oversight Support Officer at MOPAC, your work focuses mostly on providing support for the London Policing Board. This entails administrative tasks, high-quality communications with Board members, senior staff and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS), and working on decisions and quality products that ensure that key stakeholders have the right tools to support the Mayor in his oversight of the MPS.
On a typical day, you may be writing a paper to summarise what the MPS has achieved on a topic area such as neighbourhood policing and what oversight has been provided in this space, updating on your tasks in a project group, or using tact in responding to queries from Board members. The work is fast paced and priorities change frequently – being resilient, collaborative and able to think on your feet is key to the role.
This is a maternity cover role, due to end December 2027.
