Mayo Clinic Healthcare has an exciting opportunity for an Endoscopy Healthcare Assistant - Bank to join the growing team! The Health Care Assistant is part of the clinical team and shares responsibility for the treatment rooms and the performance of routine clinical duties. This role receives direction from Nursing colleagues and line managers, works cooperatively with Medical Secretaries and Receptionists as well as allied health staff, various levels of health care providers, outside vendors and clients. Maintains an effective working relationship with a variety of personnel within and outside the Clinic.
Mayo Clinic Healthcare is based in central London, providing diagnostic and outpatient care for the following specialties: Cardiology, Endoscopy, Gastrointestinal, Neurology, Orthopedic, Imaging, Executive health screening and a Private GP service. Endoscopy experience/knowledge of endoscopic procedures is essential for this role. Must be authorized to work in the UK; relocation is not offered.
Responsibilities:- Prepare equipment and procedure rooms.
- Implement care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the supervision of a registered Nurse.
- Select the appropriate endoscope for the procedure and confirm equipment is suitable for the patient.
- Assist the endoscopist to take biopsies during endoscopy procedures.
- Carry out bedside clean of endoscopes and correctly prepare scopes for transporting to decontamination facility.
- Vital signs monitoring.
- Effectively and appropriately escalate any clinical or deteriorating patient concerns to reduce risk and promote patient safety.
- Manage inventory and restock supplies.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols.
- Evidence of completed endoscopy competencies.
- NVQ level 3 in health and social care or portfolio of equivalent experience.
- Care certificate.
- Peripheral cannulation and phlebotomy experience.
- Maintain effective communication and therapeutic communication with patients and their relatives.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with patients, carers and colleagues.
Compensation Detail: Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
