Responsibilities
- Perform Cardiopulmonary Exercise Tests (CPETs) for outpatients.
- Organise and conduct CPETs while collaborating closely with the Cardiology team and other clinical departments.
- Ensure accurate reporting of results and maintain meticulous documentation.
- Conduct clinical audits to uphold high standards of care.
- Provide expert advice on CPET testing to support personalised patient care across Mayo Clinic Healthcare.
- Lead and promote best practices within the department.
- Collaborate with clinical and nursing leads to ensure excellent patient-centred care.
- Promptly elevate significant test results to the appropriate provider or team.
- Conduct and report on CPETs under the supervision of the Cardiology team.
- Advocate for patients by incorporating holistic care approaches.
- Ensure all CPET documentation adheres to Trust standards and perform audits as needed.
- Provide leadership and expert clinical advice on CPET testing.
- Work closely with clinical leads to maintain and elevate patient care standards.
Qualifications
- BSc in Clinical Physiology, Respiratory Physiology, Sports Science, or a related field.
- Accreditation in exercise testing (e.g., ARTP).
- Demonstrable ongoing professional development and education.
- Experience as a physiologist with a focus on CPET.
- Competence in interpreting resting and stress ECGs.
- Knowledge of clinical governance related to CPET.
- Experience in providing education to healthcare staff.
- Familiarity with IT systems used in CPET.
- Experience with Medical-Graphics Ultima equipment.
This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants must have current UK professional registration. Relocation is not offered.
