The Medical Secretary provides high‑quality administrative and secretarial support within a fast‑paced, multispecialty medical environment. The role includes managing patient appointments, coordinating with clinical teams, and handling confidential information with accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Secretarial Support
- Provide accurate and confidential secretarial support, including audio typing and document preparation.
- Manage correspondence, telephone enquiries, and all communications promptly and professionally.
- Appointment Management
- Schedule appointments within the electronic medical record system with a high level of accuracy.
- Process new patient referrals and coordinate appointments with relevant departments.
- Advise patients on co‑payments, authorisations, and pre‑service requirements.
- Register new patients and maintain up‑to‑date records.
- Support patient visits by addressing queries and coordinating care internally and externally.
- Arrange investigations and obtain results, ensuring urgent findings are escalated appropriately.

- GCSE or equivalent.
- 3 years’ medical secretarial experience.
- Experience within NHS or private healthcare settings.
- Fluency in English and eligibility to work in the UK.
- Medical Terminology training.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and balance competing demands.
- Excellent attention to detail and proofreading accuracy.
- Proficient computer and keyboard skills (Meddbase and CRM).
- Basic understanding of insurance terminology.
