At Mayku we’re building the World’s first Desktop Factory to put the power to create back in the hands of makers everywhere. We are looking for a bright and ambitious finance professional to join our innovative, category defining company on our mission to give ‘power to the makers’. The Finance Director will be a core member of the executive leadership team and will play a key part in forging the financial path for Mayku from a commercial perspective as we scale our business.
Your mission is to enable the team to make great decisions by defining, creating and articulating clear financial information. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in creating the underlying financial models that help sell the business to investors. Alongside these two core facets of the role, the Finance Director at Mayku will be responsible for building a high quality finance team and ensuring all the administrative and compliance sides of the finance function are taken care of in a timely and effective manner.
As part of the Mayku team you’ll be supported and have the freedom to work in a way that suits your style and be part of a small hardworking team who offer a unique product unlike anything else on the market.
You will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic guidance and enabling financial decision making across the team.
- Providing visibility into our performance to aid management decisions and reporting to investors.
- Establishing KPIs for the team and ensuring that we have the data streams in place that we need to understand them.
- Providing visibility into key trends and developing a forward look forecast to support future company investment decisions.
- Planning and executing series-A funding by providing financials to potential and existing investors to sell the business and help them understand our plans.
- Building and managing the finance team.
- Ensuring financial controls are appropriate to a scaling business, in line with best practice, legislation and support the overall governance of the business.
- Company secretarial and HMRC filings.
- Delivering intelligence to the board to support effective governance.
- Leading on arranging future debt financing or equity financing with the senior management team.
What will help you succeed in this role:
- Excellent communication skills - with the leadership team, across the business as a whole and with investors and the outside world.
- Wider people skills, particularly the ability to lead a high calibre team.
- A commercial and in-depth understanding of the business, its markets and customers.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to see and define positive trends in the numbers.
- The ability to support and challenge the CEO.
- An affinity with numbers and the ability to interpret them for others.
- Excellent technical skills and efficient, swift handling and processing of large amounts of data in Excel.
- A quick and nimble mind - able to spot trends that others can’t see when looking at numbers.
- Obsessive over process - with a high attention to detail.
- An ability to hold people accountable, not letting them get away with bad financial practice, or unnecessarily costly enterprises because they don’t want to confront issues.
- Previous experience with fundraising and effective management of working capital tied up in stock.
What do we offer?
- A competitive salary, meaningful stock options, generous bonus, and pension contributions.
- Impact, trust, and influence at a well-funded, scaling start-up.
- A happy, flexible and transparent culture where we take our Work/Life balance very seriously.
- You may work from home a couple of days a week (at the moment we are in effect all working remotely).
- If you have an appointment, go! As long as you're on top of tasks we’re happy!
- Beautiful office in Central London with the latest tech equipment.
- Unlimited healthy (and not-so-healthy) snacks.
- Quarterly team away day somewhere exciting.
- With a clear career progression, we are here to help you succeed.
