As Front of House Team Leader, you will play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming and professional experience for everyone who visits the theatre. Working at the heart of the Front of House operation, you will lead by example, supporting the team to deliver excellent customer care across performances, events and day-to-day activity. You will help ensure our audiences feel safe, informed and valued, while working closely with colleagues across the organisation to support the smooth running of the venue. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy live performance environment, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.
The role will be offered based on an annualised hours contract of 1040 hours per year - an average of 3-5 shifts or 20 hours (average) per week – including afternoons, evenings, and weekends. All applicants must be available for weekend work and must be available to work over the busy Christmas period, including performances on Boxing Day.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Support the smooth running of all Front of House activity, ensuring excellent customer service and a safe, welcoming environment
- Confidently handle customer queries, complaints and incidents, achieving positive outcomes
- Lead, motivate and support Front of House and Bar teams, promoting a positive, team-focused culture
- Promote and maximise sales opportunities
- Act as a responsible Personal Licence Holder when bars are open to the public
- Support staff training, encourage good practice, and ensure policies and procedures are followed
- Act as a First Aider, responding calmly and confidently to incidents
- Assist with the delivery of events, including corporate functions, Afternoon Teas and VIP experiences
Our ideal applicant will have:
- Demonstrable experience delivering high standards of customer service in a customer-facing environment
- Clear evidence of confidently handling customer complaints or incidents and achieving positive outcomes
- Proven experience of leading or supervising teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal communication skills, evidenced through customer interaction and team coordination
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively during busy operational periods
- Evidence of remaining calm under pressure and making sound decisions in live situations
- Track record of promoting or achieving sales targets, upselling or increasing secondary spend
- Knowledge of (or willingness to obtain) Personal Licence and understanding of licensing requirements
- Experience of following and enforcing policies and procedures, particularly relating to safety or compliance
- Experience of coaching, training or supporting the development of others
- Flexible working approach, with experience of supporting events, functions or varied operational demands
