We are looking to recruit a full time Facilities Technician to provide general facilities and maintenance cover. This role will be across both of our venues, however the majority of the role will be based at Mayflower Theatre. This is a hands‑on role at the heart of our operation, ensuring our building is safe, well‑maintained, and ready to welcome thousands of audience members each week.
The successful candidate should be self‑motivated, able to work on their own initiative, prioritise workloads and respond to emergencies when called upon. Previous relevant experience within an operational building is essential. The role will be offered based on a permanent contract, at 37.5 hours per week (including weekends and evenings).
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Maintaining, replacing and updating the fixtures & fittings of the Theatre
- Carrying out basic repairs to damaged facilities and equipment across the building
- Regular stock checks of all facilities and equipment
- Assisting with contractors to ensure work is carried out safely
- Carrying out safety checks (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting)
Our ideal applicant will have:
- Basic experience with plumbing and/or electrical
- Basic experience with wood‑work/carpentry
- Previous experience within the facilities/maintenance sector
- A keen eye for detail with experience of maintaining a building
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations in the workplace
- Good communication skills and experience of working with external contractors and companies
- Good computer skills with experience of using IT programmes
- A practical, problem‑solving approach and good attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
