The role requires a high degree of flexibility, including regular evening and late-night working following performances and events, as well as occasional overnight shifts to support venue operations and security requirements. The postholder must be capable of working independently, carrying out lone-working duties safely and effectively, and using sound judgement and initiative to respond to operational issues as they arise.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver a warm, professional and helpful reception service and act as first point of contact.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Stage Door enquiries, providing accurate information and assistance in person, by telephone and through other agreed communication channels.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, emergencies and challenging situations.
  • Responsibility for opening the venue and securely locking up the building at the end of operations.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, access-control systems and other security equipment, responding appropriately to concerns and escalating incidents where necessary.
  • Manage visitor and contractor records, keys, passes, post, parcels and deliveries accurately and securely.
  • Support emergency evacuations and follow the organisation’s safety, security and incident-reporting procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Security, Front of House, Technical and Facilities teams to support the safe and effective operation of the venue.

Our ideal applicant will have:

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to work a flexible shift pattern, including evenings, late nights, overnight shifts, weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing reception, security, concierge or front-of-house environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to create a professional, welcoming and positive first impression.
  • Experience operating CCTV, access control or security monitoring systems.
  • Experience implementing evacuation procedures and responding to emergency situations, incidents and challenging situations.
  • Experience of dealing with difficult or confrontational situations, using conflict management and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience completing accurate records, reports and incident documentation.
  • Good IT and administrative skills.
  • Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence, or be willing and able to obtain one.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in a theatre, entertainment, hospitality, visitor attraction or similar public-facing environment.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Working knowledge of security and safeguarding practices in public venues, including an understanding of Martyn's Law and the importance of identifying, reporting and responding appropriately to potential security risks, suspicious activity and emergency situations.
