Job Description
We are looking for a Transformation Delivery Principal Consultant to lead our Programme Management capability and delivery governance across client engagements. This individual will act as the lead for structured programme delivery and assurance, with a focus on complex public sector transformation, particularly within central government.
This is a senior role, reporting into the Leadership Team, and ideal for a seasoned programme delivery professional who combines governance excellence with a hands-on, delivery-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and evolution of Veran’s programme management and delivery assurance frameworks
Own successful delivery across major transformation engagements, acting as Delivery Lead or Programme Manager
Embed robust programme structures and delivery disciplines into all Veran-led engagements
Support the mobilisation and governance of central government programmes, with responsibility for planning, resourcing, risk and stakeholder management
Develop delivery toolkits and quality standards to be used across Veran client work
Coach and mentor consultants in delivery disciplines including RAID, workstream control, assurance reviews and benefits tracking
Act as the senior client interface on delivery assurance, recovery, and governance conversations
Support bids, proposals and account growth with a delivery lens
Foster a culture of delivery excellence across the organisation.

Cloud ERP and shared services implementations across central government
HR, Finance and Procurement operating model redesigns
Business case support and portfolio roadmap planning
Programme mobilisation, assurance and governance reviews
PMO leadership for public sector clients undergoing digital transformation
About You:
This role is ideal for someone with significant experience in programme delivery and assurance, with a strong track record working in central government environments or wider public sector.
Essential Experience and Skills
Extensive experience in programme or portfolio delivery roles, ideally within consulting or advisory
Strong delivery leadership within central government departments or ALBs
Expertise in managing complex multi-stream transformation programmes
Proven experience of implementing and governing delivery frameworks (e.g. MSP, Prince2, Agile at Scale)
Ability to manage risks, resources, and reporting in matrixed delivery environments
Confident engaging with senior public sector stakeholders including SROs, COOs and Transformation Directors
Experience running or overseeing central programme offices (PMOs)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strategic problem-solver with a practical, outcome-focused mindset
Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities at pace
Desirable Attributes
Familiarity with HR and Finance transformation landscapes
Experience building toolkits or frameworks for internal use or client deployment
Line management or practice development experience
Experience working within commercial frameworks like G-Cloud or DOS
Relevant qualifications (e.g. MSP, AgilePM, Prince2, MoP)
