We are looking for a Business Development Manager for a leading engineering client to help them to make a real impact in the UK’s Aerospace and Defence sectors.

What this role is all about:
As a Business Development Manager, your job is to uncover big opportunities that lead to major growth. You’ll work closely with top government organizations, universities, and industry leaders to introduce them to the clients technology and find creative, meaningful ways to grow our presence in this vital sector.
You’ll be part strategist, part relationship builder, and part opportunity hunter—helping us shape the future of simulation in defence and aerospace.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and executing growth strategies to expand our reach across government, academic, and certification bodies in Aerospace & Defence
- Strengthening relationships with influential clients and partners to drive strategic deals
- Identifying new opportunities across four key areas: new customers, new products, new partners, and displacing competitors
- Collaborating closely with our Sales, Marketing, Pre-Sales, and Partner teams to deliver a great customer experience
- Aligning capabilities with industry trends and client needs—especially in digital transformation and future tech
- Researching new market opportunities and tracking industry developments in the UK and globally
- Presenting value proposition in a way that resonates with technical and non-technical audiences
What we’re looking for:
- A strong understanding of the UK Defence environment—Air, Space, Maritime, and Land
- Comfortable building networks and communicating with senior officials and decision-makers
- Eligible for (or able to obtain) UK SC Security Clearance
- A Bachelor\’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a similar field, plus 4+ years in business development or sales
- (or 8+ years of relevant experience without a degree)
- Experience managing long, complex sales cycles and achieving growth targets
- Strong communication and presentation skills—you can pitch an idea and back it up
- A proactive, team-oriented approach with a focus on building trust and achieving shared goals
It’s a bonus if you also have:
- Experience working on major UK or international Defence programs
- Previous military experience or a background in defence-related organisations
- Skills in cross-functional team leadership and partner engagement
