This is a hands-on Clinical Lead role with a clear purpose. Following a recent service review, Mayflower Care Home is strengthening its clinical leadership on site. There are ongoing clinical challenges including investigations and the priority now is to bring stability, visibility and strong clinical direction into this home.

We’re looking for someone who can step in quickly and lead from the front. You’ll be a consistent presence on the floor supporting nurses, guiding decision making, and ensuring safe, high-quality care is delivered every day. This is not a desk-based role; it’s about being visible, approachable, and setting the standard in real time.

In particular, the successful individual will need to be:

  • Clinically strong, with a solid grounding in core nursing practices (wound care, dressings, and fundamentals of care)
  • A confident and visible leader, able to support and guide the nursing team
  • Hands-on and present on the floor, acting as a go-to person for advice, support, and decision-making
  • Proactive in identifying and addressing risks and areas for improvement
  • Focused on ensuring medication safety and compliance
  • Able to model and embed high standards, clearly demonstrating what ‘good care’ looks like in practice

What we’re looking for:

  • A Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a valid NMC PIN.
  • Strong, confident clinical background with solid fundamentals.
  • Experience in a senior nursing or clinical leadership role within a care home setting.
  • A visible and approachable leader who leads by example.
  • Comfortable working in a service that requires stability, structure, and direction.
  • Proactive, calm under pressure, and able to quickly build trust with teams and stakeholders.

About you: You’re the kind of person people naturally turn to. You’re calm, credible and clear in your approach. You don’t overcomplicate things; you focus on getting the basics right, supporting your team and making sure residents receive safe, high-quality care. You’re just as comfortable rolling up your sleeves on the floor as you are reviewing care plans or supporting audits. Most importantly, you lead in a way that brings people with you.

Why this role? This 6-month opportunity offers the chance to make an immediate impact in a service that needs strong clinical leadership right now. You’ll be supported by an experienced leadership team, with interviews being conducted by senior leaders within the group, and the autonomy to influence standards, culture, and clinical practice from day one.
