As a Lead Developer, you will provide hands‑on technical leadership across one or a small number of related product engineering teams, setting direction, improving delivery quality and shaping cloud‑based services that support critical public‑facing platforms.
Lead the design and development of cloud‑based services, with particular emphasis on serverless architecture and Node.js. Set technical direction for the team, including architecture decisions, engineering standards and appropriate technology choices. Guide team ways of working to improve pace, quality, resilience and maintainability. Coach and mentor developers, promoting strong engineering practice, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Contribute to the wider developer community and help raise technical capability across teams. Ensure an effective handover of knowledge, processes and relevant intellectual property at the end of the engagement.
Skills needed for this role:
- Strong Node.js and AWS serverless delivery experience. You have a strong track record building and evolving production services using Node.js and serverless technologies across compute and data layers.
- Technical leadership. You can set direction, make sound engineering decisions, mentor developers and establish standards that improve team performance.
- Secure and resilient systems design. You design services with security, reliability, scalability and operational supportability built in from the outset.
