What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading risk management activity across the organisation, providing expert advice, guidance and challenge at all levels.
  • Reporting escalated risks to Executive Leadership and Non-Executive Directors (via ARAC).
  • Maintaining and improving risk policies and processes, ensuring alignment to MOD standards.
  • Embedding a risk-aware culture through engagement, communication, training and mentoring of divisional risk focal points.
  • Driving governance development and compliance, attending and supporting key governance boards and committees.
  • Conducting assurance reviews and maintaining a compliance register.
  • Line managing a Risk Officer and holding budget responsibility.

What We're Looking For

  • IRM Enterprise Risk Management qualification β€” strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of MOD risk policy and process (JSP892) β€” strong advantage.
  • Proven experience managing risk in a complex organisation.
  • Confidence engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders, including at board and executive level.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills.
  • Civil Service behaviours at SEO/Grade 7 equivalent (Level 3): Seeing the Big Picture, Making Effective Decisions, Communicating & Influencing.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office suite including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel.
