We are looking for a receptionist/administrator to join our friendly team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments
- Receive and initiate calls promptly and efficiently, identifying the caller\’s requirements. Transferring calls as appropriate while at all times projecting the organisation\’s image in a courteous, efficient and helpful manner
- Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are assigned to the appropriate pathways following the call handling system
- Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required i.e. new telephone numbers, address changes etc
- Assess and control the flow of patients around the building
- Input data into the practice medical system and to print off documents as and when requested
- Give test results as agreed with clinicians and within limitations of role
- Handling and forwarding of specimens
- Liaise with interpreters as necessary
- Using own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner
- Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non NHS) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same
- Ensure that the reception area and the waiting rooms are kept tidy/clean and presents a professional and welcoming area for patients/visitors
- Attend regular monthly reception team meetings
- Attend monthly PLT sessions as necessary
- Participate in regular supervision sessions
- Present a professional image to the public by appropriate attitude and appearance
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Reception and Prescriptions Manager, Practice Management Team or the Partners.
