Mayfield Recruitment are currently looking for a Qualified SEN Primary Teacher in Loughborough area on a permanent basis. The position will be working with KS2 children so the candidate must have a minimum of 2 years working with children with ASC.
Job description for the SEN Primary Teacher position:
- The SEN Primary Teacher will be enabling each student to independently contribute to society, embrace lifelong learning and achieve without a ceiling.
- You will be working with a range of candidates with varying levels of qualification and must have experience in working with 7 - 11 year olds.
- The successful candidate will be delivering small group sessions at a base specifically crafted for a small group of students.
- The SEN Primary Teacher must be able to build trusting relationships and provide security to vulnerable learners.
- Responsibility for planning Schemes of Work with a creative, yet target based approach.
- Responsibility for highlighting and requesting resources to best impact the academic progress of the student.
- Responsibility for bi-annually contributing to reports to be communicated home to parents.
Essential experience for the SEN Primary Teacher:
- A minimum of 2 years experience developing and supporting children with an ASC.
- An understanding of a variety of behaviour management techniques, with a focus on resolution management followed by developmental reflection.
- An aptitude to work in partnership with a number of professionals, as well as parents/carers.
- Experience and passion for working outside of the conventional classroom and embracing outdoor learning, in line with the ethos of the school.
- A practical understanding of Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation.
Essential Skills for the SEN Primary Teacher:
- Behaviour management and de-escalation techniques.
- Empathy and sensitivity to the needs of learners with an ASC.
Preferred Qualifications for the SEN Primary Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary or Special Education.
- A knowledge of, and up to date qualifications in, the safe handling of students.
- First Aid.
- Autism Level 1&2 preferred.

- Monday - Friday 08:30am-15:30pm Full time, Term time.
- 190 contact days.
- 5 inset days.
