Role Description The Junior Sommelier role is a full-time, on-site position based in Greater London. In this role, the individual supports the senior sommelier team by assisting with wine service, guiding guests on wine selections, and ensuring optimal wine presentation throughout service. Day-to-day tasks include providing wine pairings for menu items, maintaining wine lists and cellar organization, and assisting with stock control, deliveries, and inventory checks. The Junior Sommelier will also help train front-of-house team members on basic wine knowledge, support wine sales initiatives, and contribute to a welcoming, informed guest experience. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required in line with business needs.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in wine knowledge, including Sommelier training and Wine Pairing skills.
  • Experience or aptitude in Wine Sales and Food & Beverage service in a restaurant or hotel setting.
  • Effective Communication skills, with the ability to explain wines clearly and engage confidently with guests and team members.
  • Relevant certifications or courses in wine studies (e.g., WSET or equivalent) are highly beneficial.
  • Proven attention to detail, high standards of personal presentation, and a commitment to guest-focused service.
  • Ability to work on-site in Greater London, handle a fast-paced environment, and collaborate as part of a diverse hospitality team.
