The Employment & Benefits group at Mayer Brown has lawyers in key business centres across UK/Europe, the Americas and Asia. The Employment team in London consists of 2 Partners, 1 Counsel and 5 Associates (plus trainees/paralegals). (This excludes our Pension and Benefits team.)
The Team Has Been Consistently Ranked As One Of The Leading Teams In The UK And Advises On a Broad Range Of Contentious And Non-contentious Matters (roughly 50/50 Split), Primarily For Employers, Including:
- Tribunal and High Court litigation (including team moves and covenant breach cases)
- Day to day advice/counselling
- Corporate transactions
- Recruitment and termination of executives
- International projects
- Employment investigations
- Restructuring programmes
- Business transfers and outsourcings
Qualifications
A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 4-6 years post qualification experience.
Key Requirements
- Ability to manage/lead matters with limited supervision.
- Hardworking and committed to developing the employment team within Mayer Brown both nationally and internationally.
- Experience advising corporate clients on the full spectrum of employment law matters.
- Experience providing strategic legal advice on restructures, collective redundancies, workforce reorganisations, and TUPE transfers in corporate transactions.
- Experience supporting M&A deals by conducting employment due diligence, preparing warranties/indemnities, and advising on post‑completion integration from an employment law perspective.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of handling and resolving technical legal issues.
- Ability to represent the firm at business development events.
- Ability to manage matters to agreed standards and within budget.
- Work efficiently as a team member.
- Collaborate cross practice (Corporate, Litigation, Data Privacy etc) to provide holistic, cross practice advice.
